Four Steps to Making a Positive Impact on Yourself

Four Steps to Making a
Positive Impact on Yourself

With Earth Day being celebrated this month, I’ve been thinking about simple ways I can help the planet. Reducing waste, conserving water, choosing sustainable seafood, using reusable shopping bags, and more.

That led to my next thought: this is a good opportunity to not only make a positive impact on the environment, but also make a positive impact on oneself. So here are four steps that you can take today to change yourself positively and create a massive impact on the world.

1. Give More

Whether it’s helping a colleague work on a project, doing household chores that you’ve been putting off, spending quality time with your children, or donating to your favorite charity, giving more will not only benefit others, but it will also help you feel happier on the inside, too.

2. Nurture Your Business Relationships

Success in business comes down to one’s ability to build and maintain extraordinary relationships. When you have a knack for building and keeping relationships, you will be in constant demand. And that goes for our personal lives too. The connections we create with others make us successful in life.

3. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Most people compare themselves to others. And with today’s access to social media, it’s easy to go on Instagram or Facebook and see people living amazing lives you wish you had. In reality though, most of these “amazing lives” don’t paint the entire picture and the realities that go on behind the scenes. So remember to cherish what you have and not compare your blessings with the image others portray.

4. Improve and Change What is Closest to You

Many people believe that change means you have to make huge changes in the political and social structures of the world. But this isn’t necessary. Lots of world changes have come from people focusing on improving and changing things they were already familiar with. For example, Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat on the segregated bus and that simple gesture changed the world by bringing more attention to the civil rights movement at the time. We can make significant changes like talking to a friend who is depressed, reconnecting with an old family member, volunteering, and much more.

You can change the world – starting today – simply by changing yourself. Now go out there and make a positive impact!
